Description

PREFACE

The menace of spurious drugs, the dangerous side-effects of numerous medicines, the alarming figures of various diseases and above all costly medical treatment has remained a matter of serious concern for a majority of our people.

Having suffered immensely in my childhood from a highly painful ailment, which led my family to great distress both mentally and financially, I developed a strong inclination for a natural system which could extend the much needed cure to patients promptly, effectively and at a nominal or at no cost. For personal health, I adopted certain nature cure systems but my desire for some big breakthrough in this domain remained unfulfilled till the year 1976.

It was just a chance that my colleague in the Punjab Government at Chandigarh, Dr. Harjit Singh, learnt the art of acupressure, a drugless therapy, from a Canadian tourist.

Dr. Harjit Singh zealously practised this system for a large number of disheartened patients and made it very popular in this part of the country. I very closely and eagerly watched him giving treatment to patients suffering from various diseases, many of whom got instant relief. Such miracles which I witnessed almost daily at his centre encouraged me to learn this unique science of healing from him.

Dr. Harjit Singh was a noble soul who wanted to popularise this system extensively so that more and more people could derive benefit from it. I was one of the privileged persons who learnt this science from him.

Although I was actively involved in this pathy since 1976, I started my own centre in January, 1982, with the blessings of Dr. Harjit Singh who left Chandigarh to settle in Ludhiana. I became so much absorbed in this therapy that I had to take voluntary retirement from government service in January, 1989, eleven years ahead of superannuation.

I consider it a privilege that a majority of leading daily newspapers published from different parts of the country highlighted my achievements in acupressure from time to time. My books in Hindi and Punjabi, the first of their kind in the country, made this system very popular in almost all the states.

It is on the basis of these books that hundreds of people launched themselves as whole time acupressure therapists and countless patients were cured of ailments without any medicines just by pressing certain acupressure points in hands and feet as described in my books.

The persistent demand from different sections of society, book- sellers and rat cure practitioners for a book in English has been instrumental in encouraging me bring out this volume. It has been my endeavour to put into the book all my experience gained in the profession of acupressure for over 28 years. I have tried to present the as well as the diagrams in the book in a simple and understandable style.

I have every reason to believe that this book will give the much needed impetus t nature cure system in the country. I shall be anxiously awaiting the valuable suggest and comments from a large number of therapists as well as the beneficiaries from t system. This will enable me to make the forthcoming editions of the book me purposeful and result-oriented.
