Vasistha Samhita – Yoga Kanda
Yoga text of Vedic tradition is very rare. Vasistha Samhita (Yoga Kanda) is one of such texts. The text is unique in establishing a balance between Hathayoga and Patañjala yoga. We find it propagating eight fold path of Patanjali but unlike Patanjali, enumerates 10 Yamas and Niyamas in place of five. It also describes 10 asanas as well as various Dhāraņā and Dhyana. Along with that we also find Hathayogic concept of Human anatomy such as 14 Nādīs, 10 Vāyus, 18 Marmasthānas etc. The text is full of information pertaining to the practice of Yoga according to Patanjali and Hathayoga both.
